The Winning Words Initiative:
A Midwest Regional Resource Network for Pre-Collegiate Philosophy

Saturday, November 2nd, 2013, from 9-4:30 pm (with a break for lunch), at the University of Chicago’s Mandel Hall, in the Reynolds Club, 1131 E. 57th St., Chicago, IL, 60637

Please join leading philosophers and educators from across the U.S. for a day of exciting talks, panel discussions, and demonstrations highlighting the importance of fostering philosophy at the K-12 level. Participants will learn about the state of precollegiate philosophy in the U.S., with representatives from various precollegiate philosophy programs discussing their work, and they will learn how their schools or school systems can easily implement their own philosophy programs.

The Winning Words Initiative, like the University of Washington Center for Philosophy for Children, is designed to serve as a resource network to help with the growth of such programs, particularly in underserved urban schools. Philosophy, one of the most important areas of the humanities, can help teachers and school administrators insure that their students receive the full and rich education that they deserve.
